73-year-old female with left orbital tumor.
Gross: The specimen consists of a pink-tan, fibrofatty tissue fragment, measuring 2.2 x 1.2 x 0.7 cm. The specimen is bisected longitudinally. All submitted.
Micro: Section shows lobulated fibroadipose connective tissue with patchy fibrosis and vascular congestion. Fragments of thyroid tissue are identified with variable sized thyroid follicles, focal fibrosis, and hemosiderin depositions. The thyroid follicular lining epithelium is largely uniform with mild nuclear pleomorphism. There is no evidence of nuclear atypia. Bundles of smooth muscle cells and a small focus of minor salivary glands (lacrimal tissue) are also identified. There is no evidence of malignancy. H & E
IHC stain: TTF-1 is positive in thyroid follicular epithelial cells.

Comments
I assume that clinical or pathological investigation of a well differentiated follicular carcinoma of the thyroid gland was done before reaching to the diagnosis of ectopic thyroid tissue in a lacrimal gland
