2-year-old boy with undescended testicle and a small nodule in spermatic cord.
Procedure: Orchipexy.
Gross: The specimen consists of 2 soft, tan-pink tissue fragments, measuring 0.2 and 0.3 cm. Entirely submitted.
Micro: Sections show segment of fibrous adipose stromal tissue and a broad band of large cells with distinct membranes arranged in cords. The cytoplasm of large cell has numerous small lipid vacuoles which may indent the central nucleus and resemble lipoblasts. The tissue is crushed and nuclei are crowded in some areas. No definite malignancy is noted. H & E stain.
IHC stains:
CD 45 negative
Synaptophysin negative
Melan A positive
