fibroid uterus
this is a picture of a huge fibroid of 5.7kg , 101cm length and 78cm width. She was a young P2+0 married for 5 years represented with enlarged tender abdomen n bleeding pervaginum for the last 6 months.Enlargment was sudden in onset.she went into total abdomenal hystrectomy without bilateral salpingoophorectomy no local spread was found n lymph nodes were normal as well. this procedure was of 6hrs duration n patient recovered in 3 days ...................specimen was sent for histo-pathology.

she had no history of any surgery before neither any medical ailment history

Good gross but histology really needed to complete the case. Regarding the question of malignancy, I would think it is less likely in this very large but well circumscribed uterine mass. Of course, the slides will tell all.
there s an important thing to inform u that this whole procedure was done free because the patient was non-affording.
thnx guyz for appreciating ma case actually we requested for hitology from diff sites but it ll take sme time soon i ll up load that as well.as far as the diagnosis s concerned it s endometrial lieomyomata ...........about the surgeon on the back he was using his full powers to extract such a huge uterus and his gown made of transparent sheet s there.
Is there a diagnosis "Endometrial leiomyomata"?
Gross only is not very impressive.
Also, I want to see the real size of the specimen on the table of pathology lab.
where is the histology?
Why the surgeon in the background of the picture is not wearing properly as surgeons???

Huge tumour.Malignancy needs to be ruled out by examining multiple sections from several sites.
