57 year old male with renal mass.

Gross findings :- On gross examination, a grey white round nodule weighing 170 grams and measuring 15 x 15 x 15 cm was seen (Fig 1 & 2).

Adrenal gland measured 3x3x2cm and weighed 22.5 grams in total. Serial sectioning revealed a thinly encapsulated mass with a variegated appearance.

The specimen was received in multiple fragments and weighted 14 grams, some discrete nodules measuring up to 0.8cm were identified.

The specimen includes left adrenal mass weighing 1000 grams and measuring 15x11x10cm. The mass has an intact capsule.

Specimen received fresh labeled "pheochromocytoma, left adrenal" and consists of a 360 gram, 10x11x5 cm soft encapsulated ovoid mass with a scant amount of adherent adipose tissue.

Left adrenal gland, 32 gram with attached fibrofatty soft tissue. Sectioning shows a well-circumscribed tan/pink to red/brown nodule located within the adrenal medulla.
